Originally from Catawissa, Pennsylvania, Ralph H. Creasy relocated to Chicago by 1940, where he became deeply immersed in the city's thriving mid-century metaphysical and Rosicrucian subcultures. Rather than viewing astrology as mere entertainment, Creasy treated cosmic cycles as a strict, mathematical science.

For decades, Creasy's self-published guides remained hidden gems of underground occult literature. On November 3, 1991, a rare copy of the 1947 blue-covered edition of My Personal Guide was rescued from a vintage shelf at the Occult Bookstore in Chicago for its original face value of $1.00.
In a poetic twist of history, when Creasy was operating his office at 32 N. State Street in 1947, The Occult Bookstore was located just six blocks straight up the very same street at 611 N. State Street.
